error while updating spam

Hi
i am trying to update spam from 009 to 023as its size is less than 10mb tried to apply it from front end but got an error saying that "could not create file list"
i tried for solution got as "message no pso12" "Error code=17,read directory failed"
PLZ can any one tell me whats the meaning of this error code and solution for this problem.
