hi friends this post good for interview point of view.........
R/3 3tier Architecture:
Presentation Layer: We can set font and colour settings here. SAP GUI executables are loaded here. So that, we can customize GUI, with the help of message server we can identify favorite server or least loaded server and login into it. It is also called as server, because it performs all the above-mentioned operations or functions.
Application Server (or Layer): It provides buffer areas. We can configure work process. It reduces traffic on database. Kernel executables are decided here. Configures memory areas. Independent CPU to handle the tasks through this application server.
Database Server: It has its own memory and buffer areas. It has its own process. We have only one user, that is scheme ID to communicate with database, because to reduce the license fees of Oracle. SAP user work on SQL and translates to make to SQL with the help of SQL Interpreter.
central instance:
The instance where message server is located is called Central Instance. In central instance (CI) we have message server and dispatcher. Where as in dialog instance or instance we have only dispatcher. In entire R/3 we have only one CI and one database. But we can have additional application server 0 to 99.
warm regards
