The name of SAP Solution Manager 4.0 has been changed to SAP Solution Manager 7.0.
SAP Solution Manager 4.0 is officially renamed on May 1st, 2008 and becomes SAP Solution Manager 7.0. This decision falls in line wih the SAP strategy of organizing its product range more clearly and the strategy of standandizing this to a large extent.
Why rename SAP Solution Manager?
The new name means SAP Solution Manager and (the underlying) SAP NetWeaver will have the same release name at their disposal. That way, the focus is placed on the enhancement of SAP Solution Manager for SAP's central application management and administration platform.
What will change for users of SAP Solution Manager?
Since the introduction of the new name SAP Solution Manager 7.0 is essentially an attempt at improving the market positioning, no technical changes take place. Thus, the SAP Solution Manager set of functions and its release plans are not affected. The renaming to SAP Solution Manager 7.0 does not therefore require any additional time or financial resources on the part of the user.
